Following from our recent blog, you will have gained an insight into choosing the right paint colour for your space. The next stage is just as important – what paint type do you need?

Paint Type

There are four types of paint we will cover in this blog. They are Matte Emulsion, Soft-sheen Emulsion, Acrylic and Eggshell. Each have their own qualities and requirements which is important for you to create that perfect finish. These types of paint let our design experts complete your entire home interiors. This includes walls, woodwork, metalwork and some exterior surfaces too.

Which type of paint do you need?

Matte Emulsion ~ It’s a Chalky finish…

Matte emulsion paint gives an exceptionally, chalky finish, which emphasises the deep pigments in each colour. There is no sheen to the finish of the paint. This paint is ideal for internal walls and ceilings. It leaves a gently wipeable surface that is ideal for most rooms but should not come into direct contact with water.

Re-coatable after 2 to 4 hours
Apply by brush or roller. *Clean with water

Soft-sheen Emulsion ~ It is made for family life…

Elite Emulsion is our most versatile type of paint. It is washable and a stain resistant. Perfect for modern living. This has a water-based finish with a 5% sheen level. It is ideal for busy family homes. Suitable for kitchens with good extraction, children’s rooms and high traffic areas.

Dries in 1 to 2 hours.
Re-coatable after 2 to 4 hours
Apply by brush or roller. *Clean with water

Acrylic ~ It is hardwearing…

Acrylic is a water-based paint and has a high opacity. It is suitable for interior walls, ceilings, woodwork, radiators and metal work. It is washable and gives a mid-sheen finish, making it perfect for kitchens, bathrooms and conservatories. Also suitable for use on interior and exterior woodwork and metals which have been primed.

Dries in 1 to 2 hours
Re-coatable after 2 to 4 hours

Eggshell ~ It is a traditional paint…

It is a traditional oil-based paint which gives a low-sheen finish. It is resistant to steam and condensation in kitchens and bathrooms. It’s a durable paint and ideal for interior, exterior woodwork and metalwork (with a suitable primer) including doors, windows frames, skirting boards and radiators.
